Job Description
Sharp Management is seeking a Property Accountant to join their team. This person will oversee the daily accounting operations of a portfolio of multifamily properties. This position calls for excellent written and oral communication skills as well as a strong attention to detail and accuracy. Individual will be responsible for financial accuracy and reporting.
Sharp is a NYC based real estate firm that owns and operates multifamily properties since 1988. The company’s current focus is on class A & B multifamily properties in growing markets in the Southern US. The company then executes a value-add strategy to uplift the asset and improve the quality, thereby driving significant growth.
Core Functions:
- Maintains the books for a portfolio of multifamily Properties.
- Complete month-end closings in a timely manner and produce accurate and quality financial reports. (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Rent Rolls, etc.).
- Prepare, reconcile, and analyze general ledger accounts for all financial packages for all assigned properties including journal entries, re-classifications, and adjustments of financial statements.
- Review and generate budget variance reports with explanation narratives.
- Work closely with the accounts payable bookkeeper and management to ensure proper coding of costs and to understand operating results.
- Review and complete Bank/Escrow/Mortgage Reconciliations.
- Review and record Acquisition/Disposition Transactions.
- Assist Property Managers in preparation of weekly and monthly financial packets.
- Collaborate with external Auditors and Tax Accountant for year-end activities.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of Accounting Experience (preferably in Real estate/Property management).
- BA in Accounting/ Finance or alike.
- Excellent analytical, mathematical and communication (verbal and written) skills.
- Comfortable in a collaborative team-based setting.
- Proper time management with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience in Yardi a plus.
