Position: Accounts Receivable Clerk
Job Overview
The Accounts Receivable Clerk is responsible for processing incoming payments, accurately recording financial transactions, and maintaining customer accounts. This role is essential to the company’s financial health by ensuring timely collection of invoices, minimizing bad debt, and supporting accurate financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Invoice Processing: Prepare and issue invoices promptly; verify accuracy of amounts, due dates, and terms.
- Payment Collection: Monitor accounts for overdue balances; contact customers via phone, email, or mail; assist with payment plans or settlements.
- Account Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliations; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Credit Management: Evaluate customer credit risk; adjust credit limits; collaborate with sales and finance on new credit applications.
- Reporting: Prepare AR aging reports; provide regular updates on outstanding receivables and collection status.
- Customer Service: Respond to billing and payment inquiries professionally; work with other departments to resolve disputes.
- Administrative Support: Maintain accurate transaction and communication records; support month- and year-end close processes.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- Experience: Prior accounts receivable, billing, or related experience a plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and accounting software (QuickBooks, SAP).
- Attention to Detail: Strong accuracy and accountability with financial data.
- Communication: Clear written and verbal communication; able to work effectively with customers and internal teams.
- Problem-Solving: Skilled at investigating and resolving discrepancies.
- Time Management: Able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills
- Collections or credit management experience.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Yiddish language skills a plus.
