Williamsburg construction and property development office looking to hire a qualifying controller with prior experience.


The following is a general description of the job:

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger and ensure timely closing of books.
  • Monitor cash flow and liquidity for ongoing and upcoming development projects.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Develop and manage annual budgets and project-specific budgets.
  • Provide variance analysis and financial projections to support decision-making.

Compliance & Internal Controls

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Review and understand all loan agreements, including covenants, reporting requirements, and deadlines.
  • Monitor covenant compliance monthly or quarterly and flag potential breaches early.

Project Accounting

  • Track costs for land acquisition, construction, and development phases.
  • Allocate expenses accurately across multiple projects and entities.
  • Manage draw requests and lender reporting requirements.
  • Manage rental properties income and expenses.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise accounting staff and manage day-to-day operations of the finance and administrative department.
  • Provide training and mentorship to ensure adherence to best practices.

Strategic Support

  • Coordinate with owner to evaluate financial feasibility of new projects.
  • Assist in structuring financing for development projects, including debt and equity.
