Williamsburg construction and property development office looking to hire a qualifying controller with prior experience.
The following is a general description of the job:
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Maintain accurate general ledger and ensure timely closing of books.
- Monitor cash flow and liquidity for ongoing and upcoming development projects.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Develop and manage annual budgets and project-specific budgets.
- Provide variance analysis and financial projections to support decision-making.
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Review and understand all loan agreements, including covenants, reporting requirements, and deadlines.
- Monitor covenant compliance monthly or quarterly and flag potential breaches early.
Project Accounting
- Track costs for land acquisition, construction, and development phases.
- Allocate expenses accurately across multiple projects and entities.
- Manage draw requests and lender reporting requirements.
- Manage rental properties income and expenses.
Team Leadership
- Supervise accounting staff and manage day-to-day operations of the finance and administrative department.
- Provide training and mentorship to ensure adherence to best practices.
Strategic Support
- Coordinate with owner to evaluate financial feasibility of new projects.
- Assist in structuring financing for development projects, including debt and equity.
