Head of Finance / Controller
Location: Chester, NY
Job Type: Full-Time, In-Office
Salary: $150,000
A payroll company is seeking an experienced, driven, and detail-oriented Head of Finance / Controller to oversee and execute all aspects of financial operations. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines strategic oversight with direct responsibility for day-to-day accounting and finance functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directly run daily financial operations and reporting while ensuring compliance with all regulations
- Personally handle or closely manage federal, state, and local payroll and tax processing
- Execute multi state payroll, tax filings, banking activities, and ACH transaction
- Own the setup, learning, and management of payroll and time and attendance software systems
- Build and maintain budgets, forecasts, and KPI reporting
- Actively manage cash flow, credit lines, and financial risk exposure
- Negotiate vendor contracts and directly manage vendor relationships
- Actively manage bank relationships and daily cash movement
Requirements
- Five or more years of experience in a hands-on controller or senior finance role
- Strong knowledge of tax compliance and multi state payroll
- Proven experience in cash management, forecasting, and financial planning
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite or SAP
- Experience with business intelligence and automation tools
- Willingness to learn and run payroll and time and attendance systems
- Demonstrated ability to build processes and enforce internal controls
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with leadership
