
The Accounts Payable Manager leads the company’s accounts payable function with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, controls, and scalability. This role oversees daily AP operations, develops and mentors the AP team, and drives process improvements. The Manager collaborates with other departments, including Buying, Customer Service, Receiving, and the CFO, to ensure payables support the organization’s broader financial strategy. Leadership • Lead, develop, and manage the Accounts Payable team • Set clear performance expectations and provide ongoing coaching • Oversee hiring, training, cross-training, and team development • Establish and maintain AP policies, procedures, and documentation Accounts Payable Operations • Oversee the full AP lifecycle, ensuring timely and accurate vendor payments • Maintain strong, professional relationships with a large and diverse vendor base • Manage invoice intake, approvals, and payment processing • Resolve escalated vendor issues and internal inquiries • Maintain effective approval workflows and controls Cash Flow & Reporting • Provide visibility into AP aging, upcoming payments, and obligations • Support payment prioritization and cash planning in partnership with the CFO • Prepare and analyze AP metrics and management reports Systems & Process Improvement • Own AP systems and workflows within the ERP and payment platforms • Identify and implement automation and efficiency improvements • Lead AP-related system enhancements and projects Qualifications Required • 5+ years of accounts payable experience, including team leadership • Experience in high-volume AP environments • Strong understanding of accounting principles Preferred • Process improvement or systems implementation experience • Prior experience in a distribution or wholesale organization with complex vendor and inventory flows Success in This Role • Vendors are paid accurately and on time • AP processes are efficient, documented, and scalable • Strong cross-functional collaboration and vendor relationships • A self-sufficient, well-trained AP team • Minimal AP escalations reaching the CFO
