- Review work completed by staff bookkeepers and support data accuracy
- Ensure deadlines are met and financials are clean and on time
- Serve as a point of contact for 1–2 junior staff (bookkeepers, staff accountants)
- Provide guidance, feedback, and informal leadership
- No prior management required — just readiness to take responsibility
- Use QuickBooks and Excel (must be proficient in formulas and data analysis)
- Help streamline processes and support the Assistant Controller with finance ops
- Maintain clear, well-organized documentation and processes
What We’re Looking ForMust-Haves- Solid accounting experience (industry agnostic — healthcare, nonprofit, etc. all okay)
- Strong QuickBooks skills and comfort working with spreadsheets
- Self-starter who’s comfortable taking ownership without micromanagement
- Willingness and readiness to supervise others (even if not done before)
- Highly dependable, accurate, and able to prioritize tasks independently
