Associate HR Director

💰 Salary Range: $90,000–$150,000 (commensurate with experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Associate HR Director to lead and oversee all aspects of human resources operations for a professional, fast-paced office environment. This role is responsible for managing the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, compliance, and HR process improvement.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on HR leader with strong judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build trust across all levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead full-cycle recruitment across downstate locations, including sourcing, interviewing, and hiring
- Partner with hiring managers to define roles, develop sourcing strategies, and support hiring decisions
- Oversee onboarding, orientation, and probationary progress for new hires
- Serve as a trusted HR resource for employee relations, performance issues, and conflict resolution
- Manage performance improvement plans, corrective actions, and internal investigations
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and internal policies
- Support compensation discussions, salary benchmarking, and benefits-related inquiries
- Review, update, and maintain HR policies, handbooks, and employee documentation
- Manage offboarding processes, including terminations, exit interviews, and system access removal
- Support employee engagement initiatives, internal communications, trainings, and HR projects in collaboration with leadership
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4–5 years of progressive HR experience
- Proven experience managing full-cycle recruitment and onboarding
- Strong background in employee relations and performance management
- Experience ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (New York preferred)
- Experience implementing HR policies, procedures, and process improvements
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational and project management abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities
- Knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, and industry standards
- High level of discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
- Self-motivated with the initiative to drive HR programs and improvements independently
