Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Associate HR Director to lead and oversee all aspects of human resources operations for a professional, fast-paced office environment. This role is responsible for managing the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, compliance, and HR process improvement.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on HR leader with strong judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build trust across all levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment across downstate locations, including sourcing, interviewing, and hiring
  • Partner with hiring managers to define roles, develop sourcing strategies, and support hiring decisions
  • Oversee onboarding, orientation, and probationary progress for new hires
  • Serve as a trusted HR resource for employee relations, performance issues, and conflict resolution
  • Manage performance improvement plans, corrective actions, and internal investigations
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and internal policies
  • Support compensation discussions, salary benchmarking, and benefits-related inquiries
  • Review, update, and maintain HR policies, handbooks, and employee documentation
  • Manage offboarding processes, including terminations, exit interviews, and system access removal
  • Support employee engagement initiatives, internal communications, trainings, and HR projects in collaboration with leadership

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4–5 years of progressive HR experience
  • Proven experience managing full-cycle recruitment and onboarding
  • Strong background in employee relations and performance management
  • Experience ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (New York preferred)
  • Experience implementing HR policies, procedures, and process improvements
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities
  • Knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, and industry standards
  • High level of discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
  • Self-motivated with the initiative to drive HR programs and improvements independently
