Lived experience mentor

Job Description

Your Experience Could Help a Young Person Feel Less Alone

We’re exploring interest in paid youth mentorship opportunities for people who can draw on their own challenges to support children and teens.

Who can apply?

  • Adults ages 18–30 with personal experience growing up with emotional, mental-health, behavioral, developmental, or substance-use challenges
  • Experience with special education, foster care, juvenile justice, or other child-serving systems

What would you do?
  • Build a trusting relationship
  • Listen without judgment
  • Help a young person develop confidence, coping skills, healthier relationships, and the ability to speak up for themselves
  • Work with supervisors and complete session documentation

We’re looking for patient, dependable people who respect boundaries and are open to training, supervision, credentialing, and background checks. You’ll draw on your experience thoughtfully, without needing to share your whole story.

Lived experience is required. Prior credentialing is not. Suitable candidates may be considered for training toward becoming a credentialed Youth Peer Advocate.

This is an interest list, not a formal job offer. There’s no commitment—we’ll contact potential candidates as opportunities become available.
