About the Role

We are seeking a caring and dependable Special Education Teacher Assistant to support students during morning sessions in a school-based setting in Brooklyn. This role focuses on assisting the lead teacher, supporting students with special needs, and helping create a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment.

The ideal candidate is patient, attentive, and passionate about helping students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assist the lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and classroom activities
2. Provide individual and small-group support to students with special needs
3. Help manage classroom routines and maintain a safe, supportive learning environment
4. Support students with academic tasks, behavior management, and social skills development
5. Help with classroom organization, materials preparation, and transitions between activities
6. Observe student progress and communicate relevant information to the teacher
7. Ensure student safety and follow school policies and procedures
8. Provide encouragement, structure, and positive reinforcement to students

Qualifications & Requirements

1. Experience working with children, preferably in special education or a school setting
2. Patience, reliability, and a strong sense of responsibility
3. Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with teachers and staff
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
5. Ability to remain calm, positive, and supportive in a classroom environment
6. High school diploma required; relevant coursework or training in education is a plus
