Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and hands-on Daycare Manager to oversee the daily operations of our daycare program for infants and children up to 24 months old at a vibrant Yeshivah in Brooklyn.

This is a working manager position. The Daycare Manager will work directly with the children each day, including providing hands-on care such as feeding, diaper changing, supervising play, and supporting daily routines, while also managing the daycare staff, communicating with parents, and overseeing the day-to-day operation of the program.

The ideal candidate genuinely enjoys working with young children, is a strong leader, and can balance direct childcare responsibilities with staff supervision and program management.

Key Responsibilities

Child Care & Classroom Support

  • Provide direct care for infants and toddlers, including diaper changing, feeding, comforting, and supervising daily activities.
  • Help create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children can learn and develop.
  • Support children's emotional, physical, and developmental needs throughout the day.
  • Step into classrooms as needed to ensure proper coverage and maintain high-quality care.

Leadership & Staff Management

  • Supervise and support the daycare teaching staff and assistants.
  • Schedule staff and ensure appropriate classroom coverage.
  • Train, mentor, and provide ongoing guidance to staff members.
  • Foster teamwork and maintain a positive, professional work environment.
  • Ensure staff follow daycare policies, procedures, and licensing requirements.

Parent Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents.
  • Build positive relationships with families through regular communication.
  • Address parent questions and concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Provide updates regarding children's progress, well-being, and daily activities.

Operations & Administration

  • Oversee the daily operation of the daycare program.
  • Manage enrollment, attendance, staff schedules, and required documentation.
  • Maintain incident reports and other operational records.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable licensing requirements and Yeshivah policies.
  • Help maintain an organized, clean, and well-functioning daycare environment.

Safety & Well-Being

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and secure environment for all children.
  • Implement and monitor health and safety procedures.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and incidents.
  • Conduct regular safety checks and ensure staff follow established protocols.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with infants and young children in a daycare, nursery, preschool, or similar setting.
  • Previous experience supervising or leading staff is preferred.
  • A genuine passion for working with infants and toddlers.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to balance direct childcare responsibilities with management duties.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with children, parents, and staff.
  • Calm, dependable, flexible, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must pass all required background checks and meet applicable licensing requirements.

A college degree is not required. Relevant childcare experience, leadership ability, and a passion for caring for young children are the most important qualifications.
