About the Role

We are seeking a caring and dependable Special Education Teacher to support students during morning sessions in a school-based setting in Brooklyn. This role focuses on assisting the lead teacher, supporting students with special needs, and helping create a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment.

The ideal candidate is patient, attentive, and passionate about helping students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and classroom activities
  • Provide individual and small-group support to students with special needs
  • Help manage classroom routines and maintain a safe, supportive learning environment
  • Support students with academic tasks, behavior management, and social skills development
  • Help with classroom organization, materials preparation, and transitions between activities
  • Observe student progress and communicate relevant information to the teacher
  • Ensure student safety and follow school policies and procedures
  • Provide encouragement, structure, and positive reinforcement to students

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience working with children, preferably in special education or a school setting
  • Patience, reliability, and a strong sense of responsibility
  • Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with teachers and staff
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm, positive, and supportive in a classroom environment
  • High school diploma required; relevant coursework or training in education is a plus
