Director of Development - Paramus, NJ
Salary Range: $85K–$105K (negotiable)
This position reports to the Associate Head of School, the Director of Development will work in close partnership with the Head of School, Board of Trustees, and the Finance, Communications, Admissions, and Educational Leadership teams. Supported by a committee of volunteers and lay leaders, this role is responsible for designing and executing a comprehensive development strategy that strengthens donor relationships, grows philanthropic support, and elevates our schools impact.
Responsibilities:
Lead all fundraising initiatives, including the annual campaign, corporate giving, capital and endowment campaigns, and legacy giving.
Develop, implement, and refine the school’s annual development plan.
Champion best practices in donor stewardship, database management, and impact reporting.
Collaborate with Marketing & Communications to highlight the role of philanthropy in school messaging.
Partner with Finance to ensure accurate reporting and transparency in fundraising outcomes.
Event Planning & Management
Plan and execute two signature fundraising events annually: the Annual Dinner and the Spring Celebration.
Manage event timelines, budgets, and work plans.
Oversee logistics including venue, vendors, catering, A/V, décor, and on-site staffing.
Collaborate with Marketing & Communications on promotional materials, recognition, and post-event follow-up.
Track sponsorships, maintain records, and evaluate outcomes to inform future planning.
Support donor cultivation events, alumni gatherings, and other community initiatives.
Volunteer & Stakeholder Collaboration
Recruit, train, and manage event volunteers and committee members.
Serve as primary liaison to event and campaign committees, aligning efforts with fundraising goals.
Support the Major Gifts Committee in identifying, cultivating, and stewarding prospects, with a focus on parents, alumni, and community partners.
Requirements:

Experienced in fundraising and event management (5+ years preferred).
A strong project manager with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
A collaborative team player and clear communicator.
Comfortable engaging with a wide range of donors and stakeholders.
Passionate about philanthropy and Jewish education.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and systems-minded.
Familiar with fundraising best practices and financial reporting.
Flexible, proactive, and eager to grow with a dynamic organization.
