Job Description

Wholesale garment company is looking for an Import Manager to own U.S. and Canada import compliance and day-to-day import operations. This role ensures products move smoothly from factory to the warehouse on time and compliant with Customs regulations.

You’ll partner closely with operations, finance, overseas teams, and external customs broker, acting as the internal expert who keeps shipments moving, mitigates risk, and brings clarity to complex import requirements.

This role focuses on oversight, and problem-solving. Not filing entries. A customs broker license can be helpful but is not required.

Trade Compliance & Risk Management

Help maintain U.S. and Canada customs compliance programs.

Attend line reviews and style setup meetings to review garment construction, fabric content, and intended use, and ensure consistent and accurate HTS classification across similar styles and seasons.

Keep the company audit-ready across classification, valuation, country of origin, and duty treatment.

Serve as the primary liaison with external customs brokers.

Review broker-prepared entries for accuracy and consistency.

Operations & Shipment Visibility

Track inbound shipments and containers across multiple ports of entry.

Review commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and certificates of origin for accuracy and compliance prior to clearance.

Proactively manage customs holds, exams, document requests, and clearance delays; coordinate resolution with brokers, factories, and internal teams.

Liaise with truckers and warehouses to coordinate container pickups, deliveries, and appointment scheduling.

Partner with logistics, supply chain, and finance teams to resolve delivery delays, shortages, damages, or documentation issues.

Support C-TPAT initiatives, internal controls, and continuous process improvements related to import compliance and visibility.

3+ years of experience in import logistics required.

Apparel and textile import experience preferred.

Strong working knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and HTS classification.

Solid Excel skills and attention to detail.

This job is onsite in Manhattan by Penn Station 5 days per week.
