Now Hiring: Medical Billing Specialist

Location: Flatbush, NY

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary: $75,000–$120,000 per year (commensurate with experience)

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to accurately process medical claims, post payments, and follow up on outstanding accounts. This role requires strong organizational and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to proactively identify and resolve claim issues to ensure timely reimbursement.

The ideal candidate communicates effectively with internal teams, works independently when troubleshooting billing concerns, and contributes to efficient revenue cycle operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Submit claims through billing software and clearinghouses
• Apply PPS billing rules, including modifiers, value codes, and occurrence codes
• Investigate claim denials by reviewing remittance advice and identifying root causes
• Correct and resubmit claims in a timely and accurate manner
• Communicate recurring issues or system errors to supervisors for resolution
• Follow up on outstanding claims via payer portals and phone
• Draft professional appeals for denied claims, particularly authorization-related issues
• Escalate missing or invalid authorization concerns as needed
• Review and reconcile assigned aging reports on a monthly basis
• Utilize Excel, PDFs, and standard computer applications proficiently
• Troubleshoot claim issues independently while collaborating with team leads

Requirements

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Proven problem-solving ability in a billing environment
• Proficiency with Excel, billing software, and clearinghouse systems
• Prior healthcare or leadership experience preferred
