US ORT Operations, not-for-profit organization, is conducting a search for a Teacher/Mentor for the US ORT STEM program. The STEM Teacher/Mentor will be a key team member of the STEM Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment and Professional Development team and will be focused on the implementation and teaching of the professional development STEM program for the designated private and public high school teachers as well as the monitoring and assessment of the US ORT STEM curriculum.
Responsibilities:
Providing professional development and training in line with US ORT STEM curriculum and methodologies to designated high school STEM teachers;
Coaching designated STEM teachers to enable them to deliver strong US ORT STEM curriculum and instill a lifelong love of STEM learning;
Overseeing the planning, managing, supporting, organizing, and assessing of the US ORT STEM curriculum at the designated schools;
Providing direction and leadership for overall administration and coordination of the US ORT STEM program;
Demonstrating instructional strategies;
Providing reporting documentation as required.
This position will require travel daily to the program schools, mostly within the five boroughs of New York City, during the school year (standard mileage reimbursement available). Professional teacher trainings will take place at US ORT Operations offices during summer months.
Education/Experience:
Required:
Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering
Preferred:
Experience working with high school students in a school setting
Mastery of science and mathematics concepts covered in high school curriculum
Experience teaching math, physics, computer science, or STEM curriculum
Experience with inquiry-based teaching
Practical experience teaching high school level technology and science projects
Other job requirements:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
Details:
This is a full-time position.
Benefits include medical and dental insurance and paid time off.
Salary range is $70,000-$90,000 - commensurate with qualifications and experience.
