Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Lead Estimator to join our growing team in the commercial doors, frames, and hardware industry. The ideal candidate will lead the entire estimating process, manage the estimating pipeline, and ensure smooth coordination between estimators, customers, project managers, and sales teams.
This role requires product knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to oversee multiple bids while maintaining accuracy and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the entire estimating pipeline — oversee all incoming bids, assign tasks, set priorities, and ensure deadlines are met.
- Review architectural drawings, door schedules, and specifications to prepare accurate material takeoffs and cost estimates.
- Lead the estimating team and provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior estimators.
- Obtain competitive pricing from vendors, suppliers, and manufacturers for doors, frames, and hardware.
- Prepare and submit detailed bid proposals, RFQs, and RFP responses.
- Collaborate with sales teams, and clients to clarify specifications and resolve discrepancies.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and value-engineering options to increase competitiveness.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Pipeline Management: Proven ability to manage a high-volume estimating pipeline and multiple concurrent bids.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of architectural hardware, fire ratings, ADA requirements, and building codes.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading blueprints, specifications, and door schedules.
- Analytical Abilities: High attention to detail, accuracy, and strong problem-solving skills.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for working with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
- Leadership: Experience managing and mentoring a team, assigning workloads, and ensuring consistent process execution.
