Job Description
Settlement Officer (Title Insurance)
Location: Lakewood, NJ
Job Type: Full-time
Compensation: $80,000
We are looking for a sharp, detail-oriented Settlement Officer to ensure that every real estate closing crosses the finish line perfectly. As the final checkpoint before closing, you will handle the critical funding and disbursing of monies received. You are the ultimate gatekeeper of the transaction, ensuring every funding is smooth, legally compliant, secure, and completed right on time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Balancing: Prepare, review, and finalize settlement statements. Ensure all figures and fees are balanced perfectly down to the penny before closing.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the proactive, central hub of communication. Monitor and maintain rapid, clear email and phone correspondence with buyers, sellers, attorneys, lenders, and real estate agents to finalize last-minute details.
- Risk Mitigation & Wire Verification: Strictly adhere to company compliance protocols to verify clients’ incoming and outgoing wiring instructions. Actively screen for potential fraud or discrepancies.
- Banking & Disbursements: Securely set up wires within the banking portal for disbursement in strict accordance with verified instructions.
- File Auditing: Maintain flawless, audit-ready disbursement information and ledger records inside every transaction file.
- Post-Closing Reconciliation: Ensure that 100% of the actual funds leaving the account match the approved settlement statements perfectly before releasing files.
Requirements:
- Experience: Prior experience in title, escrow, banking, or real estate closings is highly preferred but not required.
- Elite Attention to Detail: A natural "proofreader" mentality. You are someone who spots the missing digit or the mismatched name that others blink past.
- Multi-Tasking Under Pressure: Proven ability to manage a heavy pipeline of multiple active files simultaneously without letting deadlines slip.
- High-Stakes Comfort Zone: You thrive in a fast-paced environment governed by strict deadlines, legal compliance, and high-dollar transactions where accuracy is non-negotiable.
- Client Service Excellence: Strong verbal and written communication skills. You can explain complex funding steps calmly and professionally to anxious home buyers or demanding agents.
