Position Summary
The (ED) will be responsible for overseeing and leading community building & engagement, day-to-day operations, advancing the organizations mission, and implementing strategic growth. This individual will provide inspiring leadership, foster partnerships, and participate in fundraising efforts to ensure The Chevra thrives as a center of Jewish life for the next generation.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Lead and execute the organization’s long-term strategic vision in collaboration with the Board and staff.
Represent The Chevra to key stakeholders, including donors, Jewish institutions, media, and the broader public.
Oversee & navigate our expanding presence throughout Greater Phila: i.e. Center City, Main Line, & a 3rd potential region
Oversee & optimize our primary local partnerships: i.e. w/ Aish Chaim, Meor Philly, & RAJE Philly
Fundraising & Development
Participating in Fundraising initiatives
Community Engagement
Develop and execute new creative strategies to grow the Chevra community, and bolster the current one
Host Shabbat and Jewish festive events & meals
Deepen relationships with the local Jewish young professional community
Support and guide programs that foster Jewish identity, learning, and meaningful social connection
Be a visible and accessible presence at events and within the community.
Oversee & grow our presence online & beyond Philadelphia
Operations & Staff Management
Manage & Supervise Staff (ensuring job performance, morale, adherence to protocols, etc.) as well as Lay Leaders
Oversee budgeting, compliance, HR, and administrative operations.
Ensure sound fiscal management and timely reporting to the Board.
Establish Key Success Indicators & New Budgets for the Organization
Program Oversight
Partner with senior educators and program directors to develop and scale creative programming: Shabbat and holiday events, trips, classes, concerts, social gatherings, and service projects.
Monitor impact and community feedback to adapt programming as needed.
Qualifications
Passion for Jewish communal life, identity, and innovation
Proven success in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, or community building (5+ years preferred)
Strategic thinker with strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to wear multiple hats
Background in Jewish education, communal work, or related fields a plus
Familiarity with young professional Jewish culture and programming strongly preferred
Comfort with digital tools, CRM systems, and event marketing
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation Range: $135k - $200k: depending qualifications, experience, etc.
