Summary

Simple Forwarding is a New York-based freight forwarding company that is committed to providing dependable, prompt, and customized shipping services for its clients. Our main clients are Amazon sellers and other small businesses that lack industry knowledge, struggle with handling paperwork for customs, or get confused when navigating the shipping process. As a professional freight forwarder, we work hard to spare our customers from massive shipping fees or customs clearance issues while keeping their goods secure during shipping. We fight for the underdog that might not have the manpower or know-how needed to get their products from point A to point B.

A Logistics consultant - inside salesperson helps us achieve this goal by working closely with our freight, trucking, and customs teams to book shipments for customers, research shipping options, update customers on their shipments, file documentation, and track shipments and delays. Overall, a logistics coordinator works diligently behind the scenes to make sure all the pieces of the shipping puzzle fall into place so that a shipment arrives to its intended destination safely and on time.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

While a logistics coordinator day-to-day activities will vary somewhat depending on the day and the current shipments, they will follow a similar pattern. Here is what their daily responsibilities will include as they work to process and track our customer’s shipments:

 

  • Speak with incoming leads and understand their businesses needs, provide value and ultimately convert 80% of incoming leads into customers by providing our value proposition.
  • Build rapport with new and existing customers
  • Check in once in 4-5 months with every customer.
  • Respond to emails from team members and customers within 1 hour.
  • Provide quotes and consult customers on their best shipping options
  • Update team members on existing booking status, confirmed bookings, and ongoing issues
  • Follow up on provided quotes with customers
  • Answer logistician questions- be a resource.
  • Guide and educate the customer, be of service
  • Communicate with existing agents on booking status and follow ups
  • Find new agents
  • Communicate with suppliers as needed
  • Update the Google Sheet with the latest information on all shipment related details
  • Update the relevant Trello boards with the shipment’s progress

  • Ability to research the current shipping market to provide accurate and honest quotes
  • Ability to multitask and keep track of multiple shipments at a time
  • Ability to be dedicated to our customers and to go the extra mile in saving them money
  • Ability to communicate promptly and clearly to keep customers updated on their shipments
  • Ability to think on their feet and stay optimistic in the face of unexpected challenges
