Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Manager with a strong background in non-profit organizations to join our team. The Payroll Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of payroll processing, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, and maintaining accurate records. This role requires a strategic thinker who can streamline processes, leverage technology, and ensure payroll accuracy for our dedicated team.


Responsibilities:

·        Oversee the accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly payrolls for all employees, including salaried, hourly, and contract staff.

·        Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.

·        Process payroll adjustments such as bonuses, overtime, deductions, and garnishments.

·        Maintain an understanding of unique payroll requirements for non-profits, including grant-funded positions, restricted funding, and allocation of payroll costs.

·        Collaborate with the finance team to ensure proper allocation of payroll expenses to various grants and funding sources.

·        Prepare and file quarterly and annual payroll tax returns, including W-2, and 1099.

·        Ensure compliance with tax-exempt status and benefits-related tax implications.

·        Evaluate and recommend improvements to payroll systems, policies, and procedures.

·        Work with HR and IT to integrate payroll systems with other platforms, such as timekeeping and benefits management systems.

·        Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees in a timely and professional manner.

·        Partner with the HR team to ensure alignment between payroll, benefits, and compliance policies.

·        Assist in audits, by providing payroll-related reports, documentation, and support.


Qualifications:

·        Minimum of 3 years of payroll management experience, preferably within a non-profit organization.

·        Comprehensive knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices.

·        Experience with payroll systems such as UKG or similar platforms.

·        Strong understanding of grant allocation and reporting requirements in a non-profit setting.

·        Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

·        Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.


Salary is between $85,000 - $100,000 per year.

Full-Time, 35 hours per week; located in Brooklyn.
