Position Summary

AMC Day Care is seeking a Grants & Development Manager to lead and manage the organization’s institutional funding portfolio. This role blends strategic funding development with day-to-day operational oversight of grants and contracts.

The Manager will identify and pursue new funding opportunities while ensuring compliance, reporting accuracy, and strong coordination across program and finance teams. This is a key leadership position that directly supports AMC’s financial sustainability and program growth.

AMC primarily relies on government contracts and foundation grants, not individual donor fundraising.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Funding Development (Strategic Focus)

  1. Develop and implement a multi-year institutional funding strategy aligned with AMC’s growth plans
  2. Identify and pursue new funding opportunities from NYC, NYS, federal agencies, and private foundations
  3. Monitor RFP announcements and funding cycles
  4. Lead proposal development for new contracts and renewals
  5. Collaborate with leadership on revenue forecasting and funding diversification
  6. Advise the Executive Director on funding risks and opportunities

Grant Writing & Proposal Development (Hands-On)

  1. Write and submit competitive grant proposals and government responses
  2. Develop compelling narratives, outcomes, and impact statements
  3. Coordinate with program leadership to gather data and program content
  4. Work closely with finance to prepare detailed and compliant budgets

Contract & Compliance Management (Operational Focus)

  1. Oversee grant reporting schedules and ensure timely submissions
  2. Maintain a centralized grants calendar and tracking system
  3. Monitor deliverables, outcomes, and contract milestones
  4. Prepare documentation for audits, monitoring visits, and renewals
  5. Ensure compliance with NYC/NYS procurement and reporting requirements

Internal Coordination & Systems

  1. Serve as liaison between program, finance, and leadership on all grant matters
  2. Strengthen internal grant management processes and templates
  3. Track funding performance metrics and produce internal reports
  4. Support development of policies related to grants management

External Relations

  1. Maintain strong relationships with program officers and agency representatives
  2. Represent AMC in funding meetings, site visits, and agency briefings
  3. Prepare leadership for funder presentations and reviews

Qualifications

Required

  1. Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
  2. 4–7 years of experience in grant writing and institutional funding
  3. Demonstrated success securing government and/or foundation funding
  4. Strong understanding of NYC/NYS contract processes
  5. Excellent writing and budget development skills
  6. Strong project management and organizational skills
  7. Experience working in early childhood education, education, or human services preferred

Preferred

  1. Experience with Head Start, Early Head Start, UPK/3K, or other public early childhood funding streams
  2. Familiarity with PASSPort or other NYC procurement systems
  3. Experience managing audits or compliance reviews
