Registered Nurse (RN) – Part-Time
Location: 1955 McDonald Ave, Brooklyn, NY
Employment Type: Part-Time | 25 hours/week

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our OMH-licensed Mental Health Clinic at SBH. The RN will support both medical and behavioral health services, including primary care screenings, monitoring client health, facilitating wellness education, and assisting the medication management team. This role requires collaboration with the treatment team, effective communication with clients and families, and strict adherence to clinic and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Care Screening & Health Monitoring
- Conduct health screenings and take vitals for all new clients, with follow-ups as needed
- Identify chronic conditions and health issues affecting mental health
- Collaborate with the treatment team to develop follow-up care plans
- Provide nutrition and exercise counseling
- Facilitate wellness, diabetes, smoking cessation, and lifestyle groups
- Communicate with clients’ primary care physicians to coordinate care
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with OMH regulations and clinic standards
- Sign off on health screenings completed by therapists for new intake clients
- Participate in weekly individual and group supervision
Support for Medication Management Team
- Administer long-acting injections and conduct health screenings for medication management clients
- Monitor the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) and report discrepancies
- Coordinate with pharmacies, primary care providers, and other collaterals regarding medications
- Educate clients and families on medications, benefits, and side effects
- Assist with treatment plan updates, discharge letters, school service letters, and prior authorizations
- Order labs through Labcorp or other approved systems
- Perform light administrative tasks, including scheduling
- Report directly to PNP/MD for supervision
Success Criteria
- Timely completion and review of health screenings
- Completion of initial vitals collection for all new clinic clients
- Effective follow-up on clients’ physical health needs
- Smooth support of the medication management team with a manageable workload
- Attendance at all required supervision and training sessions
Qualifications
- Nursing diploma, Associate Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, or higher from a NYSED-approved nursing program
- Active RN licensure in New York State
- Psychiatric/behavioral health experience strongly preferred
- Ability to draw blood
- Strong organizational, documentation, and record-keeping skills
- Attention to detail and ability to manage time-sensitive tasks
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
- Creative, resourceful, and self-motivated
- Basic computer proficiency
