About the Role

We are seeking a Workers’ Compensation Underwriter to evaluate insurance applications, assess risks, and determine appropriate coverage and premiums. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of workers’ compensation regulations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Underwrite and manage a book of business based on risk evaluation and underwriting guidelines.
  • Review loss data, due diligence reports, and claims history to make informed decisions.
  • Collaborate with auditors, claims adjusters, and risk specialists for accurate assessments.
  • Manage underwriting assistants and coordinate compliance responses.
  • Present underwriting recommendations and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Assist marketing efforts with proposals and client interactions.


Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years in commercial insurance, including 2+ years in Workers’ Compensation underwriting.
  • Skills: Risk assessment, underwriting software proficiency, strong communication, and decision-making abilities.
  • Other: Valid driver’s license, ability to travel for on-site audits.


Work Environment

  • Office-based with occasional travel.
  • Extended computer work and ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
  • Participation in an on-call program may be required.
