Job Description
About JGO:
The Jewish Grad Organization (JGO) is a non-profit organization that supports Jewish graduate students on 155+ graduate campuses across North America, as well as our alumni, in their professional and personal growth by creating an environment where they can connect, grow, and give back to the Jewish community. Our mission is to empower Jewish graduate students as they navigate their careers and personal lives, fostering a sense of belonging and enriching their Jewish identity along the way.
Job Description:
Join JGO as an Engagement Coordinator, where you'll be the driving force behind fostering vibrant Jewish communities among graduate students in the New York area. In this dynamic role, you’ll cultivate meaningful relationships, design and execute impactful programs and events, and provide essential support to enhance Jewish life on several campuses.
Responsibilities include:
- Establish unique connections with graduate students by developing creative and personalized engagement strategies that celebrate their diverse academic journeys and passions.
- Build meaningful relationships through coffee chats, one-on-one conversations, and engaging meetups, gaining insight into students’ aspirations and challenges while offering thoughtful guidance to help them thrive.
- Bring energy and excitement to campus and beyond by recruiting students to participate in gatherings such as JELCON, Fellowships, Shabbat Across America, and other memorable experiences.
- Channel your inner event guru to design and host programs that graduate students can’t wait to attend—think themed Shabbat dinners, cultural celebrations, or hands-on workshops that reflect what your community loves.
- Serve as a trusted resource for students exploring young adult engagement, connecting them with opportunities that align with their interests and aspirations.
- Plan, organize, and participate in exciting off-campus events like happy hours, game nights, and lively Hanukkah celebrations (latkes, vodka, and all the fun!), handling all logistics to ensure an unforgettable experience for the community.
- Unleash your creativity in marketing by taking the reins on local campaigns, email newsletters, and social media storytelling that keep students in the loop and excited about what’s next.
- Take charge and ownership of the logistics for all off-campus events, ensuring each one runs seamlessly and provides a memorable experience for everyone involved.
- Explore your region, traveling to different campuses and communities, spreading energy, ideas, and Jewish pride everywhere you go.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with 0-3 years of professional experience.
- Previous experience in engagement, event coordination and involvement in Jewish organizations is a plus.
- Dynamic and outgoing personality with strong problem-solving and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of the professional team.
- Proficient in computer skills, including the Microsoft Office Suite, with experience in marketing and social media management.
- Access to a reliable car and ability to travel throughout the region as needed.
What We Offer:
- Full-time position based in New York including travel throughout the region
- A competitive salary of $50,000–$60,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
- Opportunities for professional development and growth within a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- The opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of Jewish graduate students and the broader community.
